San Pedro sits on
the side of a mountain, with steep cobbled streets running right
down to the lake. The lower part of town, on the lakeside itself,
has become a multi-cultural, backpacker-friendly mix of bars, restaurants
and hostels; up the hill, "downtown" San Pedro is a typical
Guatemalan market town, with women dressed in the colourful traditional
blouses
and skirts selling anything and everything on market stalls along
the narrow cobbled streets.
